=======================

The Board of Directors are pleased to announce the following information and updates:

Cambridge has proposals for major power plants in Iraq and in Kurdistan via a joint venture with the Mentor Group International, Ltd.  They have offices in Thailand, Greece and Australia.  We are waiting for a US signed agreement for US to start work.  The plants will produce over 500 Mega Watts of power and could be completed in 3 years.

The company has submitted a bid to the Dominican Republic to produce a power plant up to 440 MW.  The bid process will be completed soon.

We are still trying to expand our presence in Bangladesh by consistently meeting with the Bangladesh Power Development Board.  Our management staff will meet with a South American group to discuss a major power plant for Peru and Chile, which have been on the drawing boards.

We are expanding our real estate division in Cambridge Management Group, Ltd. by joining forces with Charles Everhardt in forming a commercial Real Estate Network, located in Hallandale, FL.  The company will buy and sell commercial property such as hotels, shopping malls, retail stores, office buildings and also multi-family housing.  Charles Everhardt has a proven record of accomplishments in the commercial market.  At present, he is working with some major real estate holding corporations in the world to expand their portfolios.  We expect this to be a big profit center for Cambridge.

PRESS RELEASE

November 19, 2012

"Economist" examines Bangladesh:

=======================

THIS week’s Economist examines one of the most intriguing puzzles in development: Bangladesh.

By most standards, Bangladesh looks like a disaster. It was the original “basket case” (Henry Kissinger’s dismissive term) and remains a poor country; it has only half India’s income per head. Until recently, its economic growth was paltry. City states apart, it is the world’s most densely populated country, with around 150m people crammed onto the delta of the Ganges and the Brahmaputra, an area regularly swept by devastating floods. Its private sector is weak and its government widely perceived as corrupt and dysfunctional.
And yet Bangladesh has done better than most countries at improving the basic standard of living of its people. Bangladeshis can expect to live four years longer than Indians even though they are much poorer. The country has achieved some of the largest reductions in early deaths of infants, children and women in childbirth ever seen anywhere.
So that is the puzzle: Bangladesh combines economic disappointment with social progress. The Economist suggests four factors to explain why.

First, Bangladesh has done more than most countries to improve the status of women. This was partly deliberate policy (the country invented microcredit and these tiny loans were targeted at women). And it was partly an unintended consequence of other things. Because the country was so crowded and poor, its founders decided after independence to embarking  on a big family-planning programme. This reduced fertility but also raised the status of women within the household since it was they who now controlled the size of the family. The textile industry later took off in Bangladesh, and 80% of the workers are women. So women’s status and income both improved. Women are much more likely than men to spend money on their family’s health, education and meals, so child welfare rose.

Second, Bangladesh has been unusually good at boosting incomes in the country—and since the deepest poverty in developing countries tends to be rural, this has helped the very poorest. The mechanisms here were the Green Revolution, which meant the country could grow two crops a year, and remittances (around 6m Bangladeshis work abroad, mostly in the Gulf).

Third, the government deserves credit for maintaining basic social spending. Indeed, it has kept up a consensus in favour of this despite several military coups and bitter political infighting between the two main parties.

But public spending would probably have been wasted and frittered away (as it has happened so often elsewhere) were it not for the fourth factor, which The Economist calls the magic ingredient in the mix: large non-government organisations which have managed to scale up their programmes to work nationwide without losing the idealism of their early days, when they were small and beautiful.

The briefing goes into a lot more details on each of these. The accompanying editorial tackles a question naturally raised by the story: if Bangladesh’s social achievements have been greater than its economic ones, does that mean economic growth is pointless?

The editorial says no. True, Bangladesh shows you do not need to wait for lots of growth. But it might have done even better had its economy grown faster. Growth either made only a modest contribution to the factors that mattered most (such as the internal workings of NGOs or the family-planning programme, which people wanted anyway). Or it would have helped them along more (for example, the adoption of Green Revolution seeds or microloans). There were no strong trade-offs.

PRESS RELEASE

November 3, 2012

A Preventable Tragedy:

=======================

A Preventable Tragedy

          It is with great concern and sympathy that we listen to reports of the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy on the East Coast. Four days later parts of New York City have no power; residents of Staten Island are living in a virtual swamp and complain that they have not seen anyone from FEMA.

          Days before Katrina devastated New Orleans we suggested that FEMA purchase power units similar to our AMPS units. We also suggested that FEMA position the units on both coasts and near the north and south borders and at strategic points throughout the country. In this manner the country could be prepared to deal with the sort of emergency situations brought about by hurricanes, floods and earthquakes.

We did not insist that FEMA buy from us but we did tell them that the mobile generators that FEMA is using are totally inadequate to deal with emergency applications. The FEMA generator units are carried on a straight truck and the most they can produce is 400 kilowatts of power. Our AMPS units can produce from 22 to 25 Megawatts of power sufficient to supple the needs of a small town and of a great enough capacity to help a disaster area get back on its feet. As a comparison the AMPS units produce at least 55 times more power than the largest FEMA generator.

When FEMA responded to us it was in the manner of a form letter telling us that we need to “go through channels”. They apparently do not entertain ideas no matter how basic or beneficial.

By the way, it took 8 months for FEMA to respond to us. If it takes them 8 months to write a letter we hope that the people in Staten Island will not rely too much on them.

PRESS RELEASE

Agreement with the Government of Bangladesh :

=======================

The Board of Directors of Cambridge Energy Waste Management is pleased to announce that our Chairman, Peter Partos, has returned from Dhaka, Bangladesh after completing successful meetings with the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) in regard to a project to develop a 300 MW (mega watt) power plant. This plant will produce electricity on a rental basis for the BPDB.

The project will require Cambridge Energy Waste Management and its associates to construct and operate a 300 mw power plant on a site in Bangladesh with the location to be determined at a later date. All the electricity produced by the plant will be purchased by Bangladesh and the payments will commence within 30 days of the plant becoming operational. The Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) carries with it a government guarantee and the contract will have a Take-or-Pay provision; that is, the government will pay for a specific amount of power to be produced, whether they “take” it or not. At the same time, if power is produced and utilized in an amount greater than specified, then Cambridge will receive additional fees.

The project will bring a significant cash flow to Cambridge Energy Waste Management. Also, the demand for power in Bangladesh continues to grow and we envision additional projects once this contract is effected.

TO CAMBRIDGE ENERGY WASTE MANAGEMENT, LTD.

Congratulation! The 10MW Plant has been now officially awarded to us. I talked to Kazi last evening. He told me that he was trying to contact you. However, I sent to kazi the final financial appraisal as well as the draft contract with Caterpillar last evening. I shall send you other contracts like the Substation equipment on turnkey basis, gas supply from Petro bangla. I hope to e-mail you the Letter oif Award in a day or two.We have to furnish the Performance security within two weeks which is being arranged by DEL with the help of the guarantees received from the suppliers that needs signing the contracts with the suppliers. As I informed you earlier that DEL has agreed to furnish the Performance Security subject to signing of contracts with the suppliers. Is Howard traveling to Dhaka to sign the PPA or you want me to sign the PPA. We cannot sign the PPA until DEL furnishes the Performance Security and DEL cannot furnish the PS until we sign contracts with the suppliers. Then the most important factor will be to purchase the land and start moving.
Sorry, so many things at a time but I must keep you informed.

With best regards,
Muhammad Muhsin
